| LZR-1143: Within Posted: I have read 3 different series of Zombie Apocalypse stories (Deadlocked by A.R. Wise, LZR-1143 by Bryan James & Left with The Dead series by Stephen Knight). All 3 of these series are GREAT and each has it's own feeling to it. I'll start with the LZR series since this review is on the book. LZR-1143 within is a good, quick read about the zombie breakout that takes place in the two main books. The books keep you on the edge of your seat and its hard to put them down because you want to alway keep reading to see what happens next. Although you don't need to read the other books before reading this one, I would anyway just because the main books (infection & Evolution) give you the whole story as opposed to LZR-1143 Within and LZR 1143 Perspectives that tell what other people went thru during the same outbreak our main characters in Infection and Evolution go thru. If I had to rank the 3 series of books I spoke of earlier, I would rank them like this: #1. Left with the Dead series by Stephen Knight #2. Deadlocked series by A.R. Wise #3. LZR series by Bryan James.
As I said before, ALL 3 are VERY good. I give Stephen Knight the slight edge just because his series ends. I like the feeling of knowing when I start a series, there is a definite end. Mr. Knight's books also have a STRONG military vs. zombies storyline so if you are more into military routes, I would pick that. Deadlocked gets the #2 spot. The upside/downside (depending on what you like) about these books is that they start out with a realistic feel and as the books go on, there is more of a sci-fi feel that comes into play (think of the resident evil storyline). This series has not ended yet either but comes in at #2. LZR-1143 comes in 3rd but a VERY CLOSE 3rd. This gets the #3 spot mainly because 1.) The storyline is still going on and 2.) the plot seems a lot like the storyline of the Walking Dead meets Jason Bourne. Guy wakes up in middle of zombie outbreak and starts to put the pieces of the puzzle together one by one. Again, GREAT storyline so far but I just feel like I've seen this before. |
